Psalm 13:5 – Verse of the Day 6/9/13

Psalm13-5-1

Psalm 13 is a song of lament. Some biblical commentators think that David may have written it when he was on his deathbed (on the basis of verse 3, “Look on me and answer, O Lord My God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death”). Here the emphasis is on the hope that comes from placing our trust in God.

The Bible consistently teaches by both example and precept that it is healthy to cry out to God in the midst of difficult circumstances. The important distinction is that the Bible teaches us to cry out “to” God and not “at” God. As you pray, lay your troubles and concerns before the Lord, trust in His steadfast love, and rejoice in your salvation.
