Psalm 30:12 – Verse of the Day 4/1/13

Psalm-30

Psalm 30 is a song of thanksgiving. David praises and thanks the Lord for his strengthening presence, and admits his own tendency to self-reliance and to forget that presence. Historically, Psalm 30 has been identified with the dedication of the Temple, the physical location of God’s presence with Israel under the Old Covenant. This verse closes the Psalm with a burst of praise in the presence of the Lord.

In the Psalms, David longed for the comfort of God’s presence. Although God’s special presence is no longer tied to the geography of the Temple, of responding with thanksgiving, we are very often tempted to take our relationship with him for granted. Spend a few moments in prayer, thanking God for the amazing gift of His fellowship.
