Psalm 4:8 – Verse of the Day 5/4/13

Psalm4-8

Psalm 4 is a song of praise and trust. As in Psalm 3, David bases his trust in God on his faithfulness to his covenant promises. Because of God’s covenantal promises, David appeals to the terms of the covenant as he asks God to be true to His word. David slept peacefully in the midst of trouble and danger because he knew God’s promises to be trustworthy.

David’s circumstances made him painfully aware of the transitory nature of life and its uncertainties. As a result He cast Himself on God and found his only comfort in God’s presence. Spend a few moments in prayer considering God’s promises to be present with you always, and thank Him for such a wonderful gift.
