Family Date Night: God’s Awesome Word Tour

I love taking my 6 year old daughter on dates. Just the two of us. I cannot tell you how thrilling it is that I can take her out to do big kid things like dinner and a show. I know these special nights mean as much to her as they do to me. She lights up at the thought of having mommy all.to.herself for a whole night of fun.

Last week my girl and I had a very special date night. Our friends at What’s In The Bible? and Seeds Family Worship debuted the God’s Awesome Word tour for hundreds of families in the Nashville area.

My kids love What’s In The Bible? but we hadn’t yet listened to Seeds Family Worship (though it’s been on my wish list for a while). I honestly wasn’t sure how she would react to the event. Would she like the music? Would she lose interest quickly (she typically does)? But we got all dolled up and headed to a church across town.

Hope was able to meet Phil Vischer before the event. When he broke out into every VeggieTales® and What’s In The Bible? voice, her eyes widened with awe. She thought it was the coolest thing to hear those voices coming from a real, live man. She was already hooked.

We found our seats in a packed house and waited for the show to begin. When What’s In The Bible? began playing on the video screens, Hope was immediately engaged. Add to this completely interesting, colorful, joy-filled display of Bible literacy a whole set of well-written, fun, engaging, Bible-based songs and you’ve got a perfect night of family fun. In order to see, Hope climbed up on the chairs (she was wearing some new wedge shoes – which, I’m sorry to say, might have been my biggest first grade fashion mistake – but I digress). So she climbed up onto the chairs (after kicking off the aforementioned shoes she cannot walk or climb in) and began to dance uninhibited like no one else was in the room. With each new song she grew in fervor. What a joy to watch her joy.

The event was seamlessly woven together – a mixture of What’s In The Bible? clips and Seeds’ worship songs. Each clip set up each song to share powerful truths about the awesome Word of God.

We haven’t stopped listening to the Seeds Family Worship album since. The Bible verse lyrics provide such amazing conversation starters for us in the car. The What’s In The Bible? content gives us a resource to continue those conversations with a depth of Biblical information delivered the way kids can understand.

I am so passionate about encouraging families to start conversations of faith in their homes. This event was a wonderful faith conversation starter. The God’s Awesome Word event was fun, engaging and appropriate for families with kids of all ages. You can bring the tour to your church –  just call 801-400-3957 or email seeds@seedsfamilyworship.com for more information! Plan a family date night and make sure your kiddos are wearing dance-appropriate footwear!
