 The Historical Books

CAP’N PETE

If you open the Old Testament and read it categorically
You’ll find a dozen books that we are meant to read historically

SUNDAY SCHOOL LADY

They tell the tales of Israel There’s nothing metaphorical
And that is why these books are in a section called historical!

IAN

Oh! Joshua and Judges! And Ruth and both the Samuels!

CLIVE

First and Second Kings in front of First and Second Chronicles!

IAN

Ezra, Nehemiah, and now there’s just one more to fall…

CLIVE

ESTHER is the final of the books we call HISTORICAL!

SUNDAY SCHOOL LADY

And what do we learn from these books?!?

BROTHER LOUIE

That God’ll keep his promises! Always and forevermore! And he is ALWAYS with us! No matter what might be in store!

CHUCK WAGGIN

But from these books, the lesson learned – That peace with God cannot be earned!
From Joshua to Nehemiah What they need is a Messiah!

CAP’N PETE

So… As we’re wrappin’ up our journey through the books we call historical

CLIVE

We’ll ask another question – and no, it’s not rhetorical.

BROTHER LOUIE

Do you think that you are good enough all on your own to get to God?

SUNDAY SCHOOL LADY

Or have you learned from Israel that humankind is badly flawed?

CLIVE

Though they tried a thousand years they couldn’t right their wrong behavior

IAN

And that is why – for you and I – The ANSWER is a SAVIOR!

ALL

Yes that is why, for you and I, the ANSWER is a SAVIOR!
