Isaiah 40:31 – Verse of the Day 2/24/15
Imagine for just a moment how the people of Israel felt when they were freed from slavery in Egypt. Now remember that we ourselves have been freed from the slavery of sin and given the gift of eternal life. How should that shape the way we feel?
Isaiah 40 marks the turning point in the book of Isaiah, as the prophecy moves from judgment to promises of restoration. This verse is the climax of the chapter, as Isaiah outlines the basic hope available to those who place their trust in the Messiah. It teaches us that God not only will free His people from their oppression, but that He will strengthen and empower us as well.
Where do you find your strength and hope? As you pray, consider that God is the only true source of hope, strength and power. Give Him thanks that he has promised to renew us in this way, and ask Him for the faith to trust Him to fulfill His promise.
