John 16:22 – Verse of the Day 8/21/13

 
This verse comes in the middle of Jesus’ words of comfort to his disciples before his betrayal, trial, and crucifixion. A few verses earlier, Jesus told them that “in a little while you will see me no more,” and then “after a little while you will see me” (verse 16). Here Jesus refers first to his crucifixion and second to his resurrection and his fellowship with his people through the power of the Holy Spirit (verse 15). We do not have to worry about losing our fellowship with Jesus, because he has promised to be with us always!

Spend some time in prayer thanking the Lord for the gift of fellowship with Jesus. Thank God that his presence with us is constant and dependable. There is nothing that can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-9).
