Psalm 7:9 – Verse of the Day 8/22/14
Do you ever feel like people who do things that are wrong always get away with it? Maybe you can even remember a time when you did something wrong because you thought you could get away with it and it would make your life easier. It is easy to become depressed in a world where it seems like those who sin and disobey are the ones who get ahead, but the Bible tells us that we shouldn’t feel this way.
Psalm 7 is one of the places that teaches us why. The author was surrounded by enemies and he cried out to God for help. The psalmist knew that God has promised to judge sin and set all things right. He knew that he himself would only be spared from such a judgment by the mercy of God. He trusted God’s judgment and God’s mercy and he cried out for help, knowing that God would hear his cry.
No one is righteous apart from Jesus, for God’s standard of righteousness is perfection. Praise God that even though we are not righteous, that God judges us not on the basis of our own actions but on the basis of Jesus’ perfect righteousness. Ask the Lord to help you to respond to his grace as you seek to grow in your life as a Christian.
