{Answer Booth} What’s in the Bible? Curriculum

Yesterday, What’s in the Bible? Curriculum #5 released! We’re thrilled about this edition, and the potential for biblical literacy formation for children! Each curriculum edition includes 4 weeks of curriculum, and has been created for children’s programs within the local church. It’s intended for elementary grades, and includes videos, small group games and discussion activities, music, online activities for families, a volunteer mobile website, and customizable documents.

Today, we’re turning this blog into an answer booth. Post your thoughts, questions, and excitement for the curriculum in the comments, and I (Amy Dolan, curriculum writer) will respond as fast as I can!

You can watch an info video about the curriculum here to learn more.

Trying to plan out our fall classes. We are starting with Vol 1 and going through Vol. 3 during our 12 week program. Is there somewhere (that is not password protected) that shows the scope or content overview for each lesson- or even just a title. I am really looking for Vol 3 of Church Edition info as this is one that I have not purchased yet. I am trying to put together a mid week teacher's helpful handbook (folder) which will include this info as well as all of our church information and notes.

Are there any plans to release the DVDs/Curriculum in Spanish?

We only have 20 mins to teach our kids after the worship would we be able to just split the lessons in half as they are about an hours worth of content, and do them over 8 weeks?

If I did this curriculum, it would run with the school year, so through May for us. We could break for school breaks (a few weeks or so). I'm not sure that we could make it to May at that rate, but it's good to know there is a timeline.

Great question, Ric! With the release of #5, there are currently 20 weeks of lessons available. #6 will release end of October, which will provide an additional 4 weeks. How long does your midweek program run?

I am looking to start using the curriculum for our midweek program starting in September. My concern is that I will start it in September and the next curriculum unit will not come out in time, using it weekly. Is there a schedule for the release of the additional DVDs/curriculum units?

hi Janet - Thanks for your questions! Because the curriculum is focused on biblical literacy, the content is deep and intended for elementary age children. But, I would suggest trying it with a few 4-5 year olds as a trial, and see how it works! Each curriculum package is 4 weeks, and contains several review activities over those 4 weeks. It might be too repetitive for 8 weeks. I would suggest purchasing 2 curriculum packages for 8 weeks. What a great idea to incorporate a service project! Looking forward to hearing what you come up with!

that was suppose to be 4-5 yo not y-5 yo.

Want to finally implement the curriculum at the church I am currently serving at for Wednesday night community groups for 4-3rd grade ... wondered would it be over the y-5 yo heads? can I can stretch the curriculum over 8 weeks vs. 4 weeks without too much work? Or is is better to do 2 curriculums over the 8 weeks ... I want to incorporate a service project time for 2 of the 10 weeks.
