Luke 8:15 – Verse of the Day 7/31/14
If you have ever planted a garden, then you know a lot about patience. It takes a long time for seeds to grow into tiny plants, and even longer for those plants to produce good fruit. In the meantime, good and healthy fruit takes a lot of watering, weeding, plucking, and good old hard work.
This verse is from one of Jesus’s parables, and it uses a similar example in order to explain how faith works. While our faith itself is a gift from God, it is also something that takes a long time to grow and a lot of patience. Therefore, God calls us to respond to what He has done for us by tending to our faith with great care and consistency. Can you think of an area of your life where God is calling you to patiently and carefully follow Him with greater patience?
Spend some time thanking God for His patience in forgiving our sin and causing us to grow in our relationship with Him. Ask God to give you the same patience to respond to His mercy. Consider specific ways that God may be calling you to grow, and ask the Lord to help you do so.
