Psalm 18:30 – Verse of the Day 6/16/13

Psalm18-30

Psalm 18 is a song of thanksgiving for the Lord’s deliverance. It also appears almost word for word in 2 Samuel 22. It depicts God as a savior in battle and is filled with covenantal language. In fact, many scholars see in this verse a reference to God’s covenant with David in 2 Samuel 7. God promised that a “Son of David” would sit on the throne, and so therefore David wrote this song of thanksgiving after God saved him in battle in order to ensure the fulfillment of that promise.

God’s ways are perfect, His word is true, and he protects those who take refuge in Him. As you pray, praise God because He is true and trustworthy. Consider how you might live more faithfully in light of these realities and ask God to help you do that.
