Psalm 28:7 – Verse of the Day 7/2/14
What is the strongest thing that you can think of? For David, the picture of perfect strength was an indestructible shield. The Lord was his source of strength, trust, and even exultation. David knew that he could withstand anything as long as God was his shield.
While David frequently thought in the images of war, perhaps there are other images that are more powerful for us. God was David’s trustworthy shield, what is he to you? What would you say would be the best image to capture the certainty of God’s presence and care?
If you read all of Psalm 28, you will see that David prayed this prayer in the midst of difficult circumstances. In the midst of those difficulties he cried out to God. When you cry out to God, do you patiently trust in Him to provide for you as David did? Or are you tempted to doubt? Spend some time in prayer, remembering the ways that God has been faithful to you in the past, and ask him to give you the patience to trust Him to protect you now and in the future as well.
