Psalm 33:21 – Verse of the Day 5/27/13

Psalm33-21

Psalm 33 is a song of praise. Its opening verses reflect on the perfect and righteous character of God, its middle section represents a meditation upon God’s wonderful acts, and in particular the beauty of the creation, and the final third opens with a consideration of the history of salvation before concluding with a prayer for deliverance. Verse 21 is part of this prayer for deliverance, and it reflects the trust with which the prayer is made. The psalmist can trust God because of his faithfulness in the past.

Just as the psalmist trusts God to be faithful in the future as a result of his faithfulness in the past, we are called to have the same confidence. Spend some time in prayer thanking God for his faithfulness in the past, and especially for Jesus’ faithfulness in offering himself as a sacrifice for us. The God who would do this is worthy of our trust and praise!
