Psalm 90:12 – Verse of the Day 10/3/14
We all know that the future eventually becomes the present, and that today eventually becomes tomorrow. But sometimes we live like today is all there is, and we do not think about the long-term consequences of our actions. It is even harder to remember that the Bible promises eternal life to those who believe, and that we should remember this eternal life as we go about our lives each day.
This long-term perspective lies close to the heart of Psalm 90, which is the only psalm in the Bible that we know was written by Moses. It is a song of lament in which Moses cried out to God to hear and care for His people as they wandered in the desert waiting to enter the Promised Land. Moses knew that human beings were limited and that our lives are short, and by contrast God is infinite and eternal. As a result, Moses knew that he and the people of Israel needed God’s blessing, and in particular for the wisdom that can only come from Him.
As you pray, ask the Lord to help you see your need for Him each day as you think about the gift of eternal life that He has given you through faith. Pray that he would bless you with a long-term perspective and the wisdom to seek Him and serve Him as you live each day.
