1 Peter 1:3 – Verse of the Day 2/10/15

1 Peter 1:3 Verse of the Day

Are you the kind of person who focuses on good things or bad things? Do you tend to see the glass half-empty or half-full? The Bible teaches us to be realistic in the way that we view the world, but it also teaches us to view the world with hope because we believe the promises of God.

It is exactly this hope which led Peter to write this verse to the Christians scattered around the Mediterranean and struggling against false teachers and persecution. In spite of those dire circumstances, Peter reminded his readers then and now of the blessings of God and the living hope we have in the risen Jesus. His purpose was to remind us that the glory of our true status is hidden by our present circumstances. We may face persecution now, but we still have an eternal hope.

Although we often feel burdened and worn down, the reality is that we are already living an eternal life in fellowship with our heavenly Father. Jesus defeated death in order that we might never die and never fear. Ask the Lord to give you hope as you remember the great truth of God’s victory in Christ.
