1 Thessalonians 3:7 – Verse of the Day 4/26/14
Some people think that what we do only affects ourselves, but it doesn’t take a genius to realize that this is just not true. Our lives always affect other people. Sometimes the effect is obvious and direct. If you steal from someone or hurt them its hard to miss the consequences. Other times the effects are harder to notice, but they are still just as real. We might assume that nobody is watching us so it doesn’t really matter what we do. But what if every person who was a Christian lived like it all the time? What difference would it make?
In this verse Paul tells the Thessalonians that their strength in the face of persecution was an encouragement. This is a common theme in Paul’s letters. When Christians stand strong it not only is good for them but good for others too. When we see other Christians living powerful lives of faith it shows us that we can do it too. Spend some time in prayer remembering those who have been an example of faith to you and asking the Lord to help you set a similar example for others.
