1 Thessalonians 5:23 – Verse of the Day 7/21/14
Do you ever think about what will happen when Jesus returns? We might not fully understand what that day will be like until it happens, but we do know that the Bible promises that God will set all things right and call all His people to their eternal home. In the meantime, God calls us to wait patiently for Him to do that.
This verse is part of the Bible’s teaching about what will happen on that great day when Jesus comes again. The people then were worried about what would happen when Jesus returned, and Paul comforted them with these words. Read them carefully and think about how they should comfort you as well.
Now spend some time in prayer, and ask the Lord to help you to balance the desire that he would return to make all things right with a willingness to believe and live patiently according to His promises in the meantime. Ask for the faith to believe that Jesus will return soon, and the simultaneous desire to live diligently as you wait, as if his return is a long way off. Most of all, pray that your faith in the Lord would lead you to trust in Him and wait patiently.
