2 Corinthians 6:10 Verse of the Day 10/26/2013
Whereas the false apostles who tried to lead the Corinthian church astray made appeals to their own abilities and successes, Paul demonstrated his authority as an apostle by appealing to his experience of suffering. In 2 Corinthians 6:1-13, Paul gives an account of the many difficulties he had experienced: troubles, hardships, distresses, beatings, imprisonments, riots, hard work, sleepless nights, and hunger. Yet in all these things, Paul rejoiced, for to suffer for Christ is to have everything.
Paul believed that only serving God can truly satisfy our souls, and that suffering for Jesus’ sake is actually a cause for rejoicing. Spend some time in prayer, asking the Lord to help you believe as Paul believed. Ask for the eyes to see and the will to believe that serving God, and being willing to suffer joyfully, is the only path to true satisfaction. Pray that as Jesus paid a sacrificial price for our salvation that we would desire to live self-sacrificially for him as well.
