2 Corinthians 9:7 – Verse of the Day 7/14/13
In this chapter, Paul reminds the Corinthians about the financial gift that they had previously promised him. Paul thanks them for their generosity, and informs him that a number of other Christians had also been inspired to give self-sacrificially as a result of their example. He emphasizes that everything we have is from God, and so we should all be willing to share what we have in order to be a blessing to others. We are to give not because we are compelled to do so, but because we long to follow Christ’s example of self-sacrificial giving.
As you pray thank God for the sacrifice of Jesus and the forgiveness of your sins. As you consider how much has been given to you, consider ways in which you might give to others out of gratitude for all that God has done for you. Pray that God would give you a willing and generous heart that is anxious to share.
