Acts 4:31 – Verse of the Day 8/16/13
This verse marks a transition in the book of Acts from a focus on persecution by the Jewish leaders to a focus on community life in the early church. The apostles relied upon the power of the Holy Spirit when they refused to give in to the persecution, and the result was the successful spread of the Gospel message. Just as the apostles relied upon the power of the Holy Spirit, that supernatural power was physically demonstrated in this memorable display of God’s authority and presence.
As you spend some time in prayer, consider the power of God’s presence. God does not always make himself known with an earthquake, but his power is nonetheless accessible to us through prayer. Pray for God’s will to be done, and that you would be a part of carrying it out.
