Colossians 2:6-7 – Verse of the Day 11/18/14
What does it mean to have a “sufficient” amount of something? It’s easy to measure some things like physical objects. You know when you have a sufficient amount of sugar to bake a cake. But what about having a sufficient amount of other things. How do you know when you have a sufficient amount of hope or love?
Paul’s letter to the Colossians explains the absolute supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus, and this verse explains that Jesus has given us everything that we need not only to believe in him, but to grow in our faith. Paul’s point is that just as we have been saved by grace, we are also enabled to grow in our relationship with God by God’s grace. Jesus is sufficient for all things, and so we should place our faith in him for all things.
Spend some time in prayer worshiping the God who is absolutely supreme and sufficient for all our needs. Thank the Lord for saving you and ask Him to help you to trust Him to change those areas of your life where you struggle to trust and follow Him. Pray that the Lord would protect you from the temptation to think that you can earn your status before God, and thank Him that your relationship
