Ephesians 2:10 – Verse of the Day 5/22/13

Ephesians2-10

This verse follows one of the most explicit statements explaining that salvation is by faith and not works in the Bible (Ephesians 2:8-9). We are saved by Christ’s righteousness and not our own, and yet we are called to live in a manner fitting to our profession of faith in Christ. We are not saved by good works, but saving faith should be characterized by a new desire to do good works out of gratitude for what God has done for us. Even these good works are those that “God prepared beforehand” for us.

Salvation is a pure gift of grace, and our lives as Christians who have been saved continue to be grounded in grace. As we grow in faith we are called to actively respond to what God has done for us. Praise God that the Christian life is not static, and consider how He might have you respond to his grace. What are the good works which God has prepared in advance for you to do?
