Ephesians 6:24 – Verse of the Day 8/5/13

 
Paul closes the book of Ephesians with this verse of blessing. Along with the preceding verse, which speaks of the peace and love received in the gospel, this blessing offers a fitting conclusion to a letter so focused on how the Church has been brought from death to life in the Gospel. The grace and love that we receive through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is truly incorruptible and can never fail.

In a world where “love” is often seen as fleeting and impermanent, it is especially striking that Paul would close one of his most cherished letters by offering a blessing characterized by an incorruptible love. As you pray, thank the Lord for lavishing such a love upon you and consider how you might respond to it with gratitude.
