Galatians 6:2 – Verse of the Day 9/10/13
The end of the latter to the Galatians consists of a series of practical exhortations. Having explained extensively what it means to be justified by faith alone and not by works of the law, Paul proceeds to describe how the law continues to function as a positive guide for those who have been saved by grace. In verses 5:16-6:6, Paul emphasizes the power of the Holy Spirit to change our lives as we grow in holiness rooted in our justification. As we bear one another’s burdens, we demonstrate the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives and give honor to God.
As you pray, ask the Lord to help you to understand the proper relationship between the Law and the Gospel. Pray that as you grow in your understanding of the Law, you would become increasingly aware of your sin and your need for God’s forgiveness offered in the Gospel. As you become more aware of God’s forgiveness, pray that you would grow in gratitude and long to respond to God by living according to His Law.
