Genesis 1:3 – Verse of the Day 6/27/13

 
One of the most distinguishing characteristics of the Genesis creation narrative relates to the way God simply spoke the world into existence. On each day we see the formula: “And God said… Let there be… and it was so.” By contrast other ancient near eastern stories of origin depicted the created order as the consequence of a primeval struggle between the forces of good and evil. In Genesis, God is not only the strongest “god,” but the only God, he created the world out of nothing, and all of the creation was good.

The Genesis narrative highlights the infinite power of the one true God. Even his very speech is infinitely powerful. Spend some time in prayer praising our omnipotent Father in Heaven and thanking him not only for creating us but also for redeeming is in order that we might know Him and have a relationship with Him through Jesus.
