Isaiah 43:2 – Verse of the Day 9/4/13
Although much of Isaiah consists of prophecies of judgment for unbelief, and the people of Israel themselves are often the targets of these prophecies, Isaiah also frequently reminds them of God’s promises for those who believe. Here the reminder is emphatic. In verse 1, Isaiah writes, “This is what the Lord says…” as if to underline the certainty of the promise. The imagery of this verse is equally powerful. Neither crushing waters nor raging fires can consume those who God gives salvation, for it is an irrevocable gift!
As you pray, thank God for the certainty of his gift of salvation. Take comfort in the promise of God that nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:28). Pray that when you experience life’s trials you would have the faith to believe these promises.
