Isaiah 53:5 – Verse of the Day 6/10/13

Isaiah53-5-1

Isaiah 53 is the most Old Testament passage most frequently cited by the authors of the New Testament. The “suffering servant” depicted in these verses would suffer vicariously for all who believe in Him. These prophetic words find their obvious fulfillment in Jesus Christ, who was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities, suffered the Father’s wrath on our behalf, and healed us through His wounds.

The primary message of the Old Testament is the same as that of the New. Place your trust in God’s Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins and you will be saved. Spend some time in prayer thanking God for the willing and loving sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. Consider that Jesus took the punishment that you deserved in order that you might live eternally in fellowship with Him.
