John 1:14 Verse of the Day 10/18/13
This climactic verse of the opening prologue of John’s Gospel would have been dramatically opposed to many of the contemporary pagan religions at the time. Whereas many pagan religions held that physical matter was inherently evil and that God remained so distant from the creation as to be almost unknowable, the Christian God actually took on flesh and a human nature through the person of Jesus. God loved us so much that he lived, suffered and died as one of us in order that we could see and know his glory.
Spend some time in prayer, praising God for his great sacrifice for us. Our God took on flesh in order to live and die for us so that our sin might be forgiven. Thank God for this wonderful gift, and praise the Father who has adopted you into His family through the work of His loving son.
