John 3:17 – Verse of the Day 8/14/14

Having clear goals is one of the keys to success. It’s hard to hit the target if you don’t know what you are aiming for, as they say. In a similar way, it is impossible to understand the nature of salvation without understanding the purpose of Jesus’s mission. This verse helps us to understand that mission.

According to John, the purpose of Jesus’s human life was to bring light and life to the world. Jesus came to announce secure and announce salvation from the condemnation that we rightly deserve as sinners. When Jesus comes again, he will bring a final judgment, but the purpose of his first coming was to obtain salvation for all who believe in him. Therefore the message of Jesus is one of hope to all who believe.

Our hope in Christ is simple. Jesus came into the world in order to live and die perfectly on our behalf to forgive our sins and make us righteous in God’s sight. Praise the Lord for this message of hope, and pray that you would believe it in the core of your being. Ask the Lord for chances to share this message of hope with others.
