Malachi 4:2 – Verse of the Day 9/27/14
When you are waiting for something, how long does it usually take before you start to become impatient? After the people of Israel returned to the Promised Land, it took several hundred more years before Jesus was finally born. Do you think that would test your patience?
It is even harder to wait for God when so many people around us have given up hope. This verse comes from the very end of the Old Testament, and the situation did not look good. Many people had rejected God and no longer looked to Him to save them. In the midst of those difficult circumstances, Malachi reminded the people that those who remembered God and feared his name would receive the healing of the coming Messiah. Their difficulty would be turned to joy.
Spend some time in prayer asking the Lord to help you remember his promises of eternal health and salvation. Consider the difficulties of life that tempt you to give up on God, and ask the Lord to strengthen your faith and help you to wait. Thank God for the sacrifice that Jesus undertook in order that God might bring us under His wings and care for us forever.
