Philippians 1:4 – Verse of the Day 2/28/14
Paul opened his letter to the Philippians with a joy-filled prayer for their wellbeing. Paul assumes here as elsewhere that those who are united with Christ should also confidently assume that they are united with one another. His confidence leads him to pray joyfully and frequently for his brothers and sisters in Christ.
If all Christians are united to Christ, then we are also united to one another. As you consider your relationships with other Christians, ask yourself whether your life exhibits the unity that Paul describes. Pray and ask the Lord to forgive you for where you fall short in this area, and ask Him to help you to love your brothers and sisters in Christ. As you consider how you might express God’s love to others, begin by following Paul’s example and praying for them with joy and frequency.
