Proverbs 16:9 – Verse of the Day 2/5/14
Proverbs 16:1-9 teaches that God is in control of all things and that those who are wise recognize this reality. If God is truly in control of all things, then human beings are responsible for their actions, and we should live accordingly. Here the author associates earthly wealth with earthly pride and encourages us to seek humility even if it brings with it earthly poverty. Earthly humility leads to eternal riches, and earthly riches bring the danger of eternal poverty.
As you pray, thank the Lord for the gift of eternal riches. Pray that God would shape your heart and desires so that you long for Him more than earthly wealth and comfort. Consider whether there are areas of your life where you struggle to seek God rather than earthly wellbeing and ask the Lord to forgive you and change your heart in those areas.
Just saying
amen.

Amen!

Our apologies for the mix-up, this verse is Proverbs 16:19.
Amen!

Should be verse 19, not 9. Simple mistake
Proverbs 16:9 English Standard Version (ESV) 9 The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
This looks like a mistake? I looked it up and none of the translations give me this outcome. Please advise... It sounds right but it's not.
This is a mis quote.
Mat 5:3 "The poor in spirit are blessed, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
Proverbs 16:18 "Pride goes before destruction And a haughty spirit before a fall."
Amen
AMEN
Proverbs 16:9 (KJV) 9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
Amen
