Psalm 100:2 – Verse of the Day 4/8/13

Psalm100-2

Psalm 100 is a call to worship, and was most likely sung by the temple priests as they called the people into God’s presence to worship and praise Him. It is also the conclusion of the “kingship psalms” (93-100), which emphasize God’s kingly power and might. This verse emphasizes that God not only desires our worship, but our “glad” worship. God does not desire worship based solely on our duty to a distant ruler, but rather as a joyous response of thanks for all He has done for us.

Spend some time praising God for his loving care. Thank Him that he is a loving ruler and not a merciless despot. Unlike the rulers of this world that are distant and removed, give God thanks that He invites us into His presence to worship Him with thanksgiving.
