Psalm 119:64 – Verse of the Day 2/2/14

Psalm 119 is a wisdom psalm of 176 verses arranged in 22 stanzas that correspond to the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. This verse is situated in a stanza that focuses on the role of affliction in the life of the believer. God promises to heal our wounds, even when we stray from His desires for us. When we wander from Him, He restores us by reminding us of the truth. Only God’s commands lead to life, and every other path leads to death.

Although we are frequently tempted to love everything other than God, his love for us is steadfast and constant. God’s commands are a sign of His love for us, but very often we would rather follow the sinful temptations of a world that hates us. Spend some time in prayer asking God to forgive you for failing to believe Him and His loving commands. Ask for the mind, the will, and the strength to hear Him, believe Him, and follow Him.
