Psalm 138:2 – Verse of the Day 8/27/13
Psalm 138 is a song of thanksgiving. David speaks of a previous time in which he cried out to God (verses 6-8), and here he gives thanks that the Lord has heard him and responded. In this verse David sings of the holy temple as the location where God dwells with his people, and so it receives the center of his attention. Of course, for us as believers today, God’s presence is not limited to a particular location, but He is still equally deserving of our praise.
Spend some time in prayer thanking God for His presence with you at all times. Thank Him for His faithfulness to you in the past. Think of specific ways that you have experienced His love and faithfulness, and spend some time thanking and praising Him for those things. Ask the Lord to strengthen you for the future as you consider His faithfulness to you in the past.
