Psalm 138:5 – Verse of the Day 5/29/14
When we read the Psalms, the emotions expressed are hard to miss. David’s heart is open on the page for us, we can almost feel David’s heart for the Lord. Is your faith in God so powerful that you can feel the emotions it causes?
The Bible encourages us to love the Lord not only with our minds and our strength, but also with our hearts. If you struggle to do this, the next time you read the Bible, try to allow yourself to enter into the story. Try to imagine what it would have been like to experience the miracles of God in the Old Testament or to walk with Jesus in the New. Can you imagine how amazing that would have been? Do you realize what a gift it is to live after the writing of the whole Bible so that we have all of these stories to encourage us and to lift up our hearts?
The Lord truly is great, and His ways are good. Follow David’s encouragement, and spend some time in prayer glorifying God. As you pray, consider not only how you might give God glory, but how you can invite others to do the same.
