Psalm 18:2 – Verse of the Day 3/26/13

Psalm18-2

Psalm 18 is a Psalm of thanksgiving attributed to David. The Psalm’s title says that David wrote it to give thanks to the Lord for saving him from Saul, and the entire Psalm also appears in Samuel 22 in the form of a song of praise. Like many of the Psalms, it uses military imagery (“fortress,” “shield,” “stronghold,” etc.) to paint a picture of God’s sovereignty and power. This verse serves as the centerpiece of the Psalm’s opening lines, and likewise for the Psalm as a whole.

To whom do you turn when life is difficult? Do you believe the Lord is always in control of all circumstances? As you pray, give thanks for the Lord’s constant protection and praise him for his awesome power. Thank him for the hope of your salvation.
