Psalm 37:4 – Verse of the Day 6/3/13
Psalm 37 is a song of wisdom that reflects on the blessings of the promised land. David observes that while the wicked may seem to be prosperous, in the end they will be cut off from the land and only the righteous will receive God’s blessing. Rather than relying upon their own righteousness, David calls upon the people of Israel to look first to God and follow Him.
One of the paradoxes of the Bible is that we are never satisfied when we pursue our own desires but only when we pursue God. We do not find satisfaction by pursuing it directly, but when we pursue God we find both Him and satisfaction. As you pray, ask God to orient your desires according to His own in order that you might find true satisfaction in Him.
