Romans 10:9 – Verse of the Day 8/12/14

While the riches of Christian belief lie beyond the understanding of any person in this life, the basics of Christian belief are very simple. The Bible tells us very clearly how we are to respond to what Jesus has done for us. This verse suggests that we should respond in two ways to the Gospel message: confession of sin and belief.

These two responses correspond to the two free gifts we receive when God calls us to faith. First we are forgiven our sins, and second we receive the righteousness of Jesus as if it were our very own. All who believe that Jesus is the son of God and the source of our forgiveness and righteousness will receive these gifts and be saved.

The gifts of forgiveness and righteousness are truly wonderful gifts, as is the eternal gift salvation that we receive as a result of these gifts. Spend some time in prayer thanking God for giving us what we do not deserve. Ask the Lord to make you bold to share this message of salvation with others.
