Romans 10:9 – Verse of the Day 8/30/13

Romans 10:9 offers a simple summary of how we should respond to the Gospel message of Jesus’ life and death for us.  Paul lists confession and belief as the two responses necessary for salvation, and in the following verse he says the same thing but reverses the order.  All those who believe that Jesus is the son of God and the source of our forgiveness and righteousness will be saved by a true profession of that belief, whether they are a Jew or a Gentile.

Jesus rose from the dead in order to demonstrate that He had defeated sin and earned our salvation.  Praise God!  What a wonderful gift we have been given!  Spend some time in prayer thanking God for the gift of salvation and righteousness that we do not deserve.  Ask the Lord to make you bold to share this message of salvation with others (just as Paul did in the following verses, 10:14-15).
