Zechariah 4:6 – Verse of the Day 2/11/14

This verse comes in the midst of Zechariah’s prophecy about the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. The people of Israel were constantly tempted to protect themselves and their interests through treaties with other nations or by relying upon their own military might. Instead the Lord commanded them to rely upon Him and His presence through His Spirit.

Like the people of Israel, we are also tempted to rely on our own strength and resources rather than God for the strength to face daily life. As you pray, ask the Lord to help you to trust in Him alone for your salvation and ultimate provision. Pray for the wisdom to discern the difference between livingly wisely and living as if God does not exist. Thank the Lord for the gift of fellowship with Him through His Spirit.
