1 Corinthians 15:14 – Verse of the Day 4/23/14
It is so common these days for people to say that “You’ve just gotta have faith.” Are you ever tempted to say in response, “Yeah, but faith in what?” Christianity isn’t just about faith in general, but faith in something very specific. In fact, it’s about faith in someone very specific. It’s about faith in the person Jesus, who both fully human and fully God, was born, lived, died, and was raised from the dead. When people say, “You’ve just gotta have faith” maybe it would be good to start saying, “You’ve just gotta have Jesus!”
Paul says that if it weren’t for Jesus our faith would be useless. Of course, he goes on to say that Jesus was raised from the dead, and it is this historical fact that makes our faith the opposite of useless. It is our only hope.
Spend some time in prayer considering that the eternal God took on human flesh in order to die for your sin. Praise God for the hope that you have in Him and ask Him to help you see how this hope for the future might change the way that you live in the present.
