1 Thessalonians 1:6 – Verse of the Day 6/25/14
Do you learn best when someone explains something to you, or would you rather learn by watching someone do it? Usually our answer to this question depends on what we are talking about. Most people learn math by hearing an explanation and then practicing it, but it is harder to explain how to ride a bike. It’s usually easier to watch someone do it and then feel it out for ourselves.
The Christian faith is no different. Some aspects of Christianity must be explained. How else would you know that Jesus died on the cross to forgive your sins unless someone told you? At the same time, we often learn how to live as a Christian by following good Christian examples. That’s what this verse is about.
Can you think of anyone who has been a powerful Christian example in your life? Spend some time in prayer, thanking the Lord for that person and asking God to help you follow the pattern of that person’s life. Then spend some time praying that you might be a good example for other people in your life as well.
