1 Thessalonians 3:9 – Verse of the Day 1/15/15
Have you ever had a coach or teacher that really cared about you? What made that person so special? How did it make you feel to know that you had someone who cared so much about your ability to learn or perform?
If you can imagine that, you can start to understand how much Paul cared for the first churches in the New Testament. This verse is part of what he wrote to the Thessalonian church after he received a report that they were doing very well. He went on to tell them how much he admired the way they stood up to persecution, and how they were an encouraging example to him. Paul rejoiced when he heard about the work God had done in their lives, and he promised to pray that they would continue to grow. Do you experience the same joy when you hear about God working to help people grow in faith?
As you pray, ask the Lord to give you the same joy in God and his people that Paul displayed in this passage. Ask the Lord to give you a full sense of the amazing gift of your salvation, and a heart that longs to share that salvation with others.
