2 Corinthians 7:13 – Verse of the Day 2/18/15
Do you have a friend or loved one who comforts you when you are down? The Bible is full of relationships like this, and even refers to God as the God of all comfort in the book of James. We are called to look not only to ourselves, but also to God and his people for hope and comfort in this life.
Paul spends much of 2 Corinthians telling the story of his missionary travels. He gives thanks and speaks of the comfort he and Titus had received from the people in the church of Corinth, and he goes on to hope that he and Titus could encourage them in return. The purpose of these verses, therefore, is to encourage Christians to comfort and strengthen one another in the faith as they grow together in Christ.
Do you value the encouragement of others in your Christian walk? Do you provide encouragement in return? Spend some time thanking God for the comfort of eternal salvation and those Christians in your life who have helped you to grow as a Christian. Consider how God might be calling you to pursue deep Christian relationships in order to share this hope with others.
