Ephesians 5:1 – Verse of the Day 1/20/14
The New Testament frequently depicts believers as the adopted children of God (for example, a few chapters earlier in Ephesians 1:5). God loved us so much that He gave us the status of his children and made us the heirs of the benefits that come through the death of Christ (Hebrews 9:16). Because we are now members of God’s family we have a reason to live in accordance with the new status and privileges of our inheritance.
As you pray, consider the inheritance that is yours in Christ – eternal life in the presence of the Holy, perfect, and loving true God. God has made you His child through faith, so thank God for this unsurpassable gift. Ask God for the strength to live in accordance with the gift you have been given. Pray that he would help you to see how you can life a life of self-sacrifice for the good of others in order that you might love others as He has loved you.

You know children do imitate their parents. It's the blood the determines who is the father of the child. (begotten) So being washed in the blood of Jesus . Forgiven of my sins I am a new creature in Christ Jesus. This is my Father so I imitate him
