Galatians 2:20 – Verse of the Day 8/9/14
Do you ever feel like there is always a conflict between the things you want and what God wants for you? While we are often tempted to put our desires and God’s desires in competition, the Bible paints a completely different picture. According to the Bible, we can only truly be satisfied when we want what God wants and when we recognize that the things that we want that are different from what God wants are actually terrible for us.
This verse helps us to understand this reality in two ways. First, Paul reminds us that we are forgiven and made righteous because we have been crucified with Christ. Our sin has been put to death in the death of Jesus. Second, Christ now lives in us and so we have been saved in order to live for him. In other words, we have died to sin and risen to live because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross.
Spend some time in prayer thanking God for the wonderful truth that we have been crucified with Christ. As you thank God for this wonderful gift, pray that he would help you to live for Him in every area of your life, and consider specific ways that you might do this more faithfully.
