Galatians 3:11-12 – Verse of the Day 4/28/14

This is a verse that you may have to read a few times before it really sinks in, but when it does the message is life changing. Sometimes we think that we are not really that bad, and that our sin is not really that big of a deal. Other times, we are overwhelmed by our sin and it seems like we have no hope. This verse teaches us that neither response is true.

The reality is that our sin is a big deal, but through faith it no longer defines us. We were dead in our sin, but now through Jesus’s perfect life and death we are not only forgiven but made righteous in the sight of God. Now that we are forgiven through faith, the Law that could only condemn us is now the path to the only life that will really satisfy us. We should not think too highly of ourselves, but we no longer need to despair either!

Spend some time in prayer asking the Lord to use the Law of God to help you see your sin so that you can fully appreciate His mercy in forgiving you. Ask the Lord to make you grateful for this forgiveness so that you might follow His commands with heart grateful for all He has done for you.
