Isaiah 25:1 – Verse of the Day 7/4/14
Living in a country like ours makes it difficult to picture being overtaken by a foreign military power. Can you imagine what it would be like to have an enemy army waiting at the border, ready to remove you from your home and family? Would you be able to patiently trust God in the midst of such circumstances?
When Isaiah wrote this prophecy, the Assyrian army was preparing to do just this to the people of Israel. In spite of this bleak picture, Isaiah called God’s people to trust the Lord and to praise him. His central idea is that the hope of God’s eternal victory and our eternal salvation should lead us to praise God in the midst of present uncertainty.
Do you believe that God will be true to His promises? In the midst of difficult circumstances it is often difficult to remember what God has done in the past and what He has promised to do in the future. Spend some time rejoicing in prayer for His past faithfulness. Pray that God will help you to remember both the past and the future when life becomes difficult. God’s plan is good and certain!
