Isaiah 43:1 – Verse of the Day 2/6/15
Can you imagine what it would feel like to lose one of your senses? For those who are born blind or deaf it may be even more difficult to imagine what it would be like to see or hear for the first time. Who do you think would be more grateful for the ability to see or hear?
Much of the book of Isaiah consists of God’s rebuke of Israel for their unbelief and lack of gratitude. In fact the verses that immediately precede this one accuse Israel of being blind and deaf to the Lord. In spite of their blind eyes and deaf ears, though, God redeemed his people. Here as always, God is faithful to his promises to save us. When we realize how God has promised to heal our spiritual blindness and deafness and enabled us to know and worship Him it should lead us to worship Him and give us great hope.
Isaiah tells us to believe the Lord’s promises and not to fear. Spend some time in prayer thanking God for the gift of salvation. Ask Him for the strength not to fear life’s trials and not to doubt that God will provide for us in the midst of them.
